Cougar Connections #5
No warm up this time. His hand reached right for my butt, and I let him pull me against him. I wasn’t the only one excited about this. I opened my mouth and sucked his tongue against mine.
“You must really like bar-b-q,” I said breathlessly. My hips decided to grind against him a little. His hand tightened. The other one joined it.
“I like food,” he whispered, and damn it was the sexiest thing I ever heard. Until he said, “Lisa, I want to be with you.”
“We go. With food.” I closed my eyes. “I can’t look at you and talk.”
Lisa Gagnon knows exactly where she stands.
At forty-six, she works a register at the local grocery store, rents a room from her older sister, and has learned to laugh at life’s disappointments before they get the chance to hurt. Her sister is the beautiful one. Lisa is the funny one. She’s made her peace with that.
Mostly.
Then she joins Cougar Connections and meets Ryan O’Connell.
Ryan is thirty, gorgeous, and a bartender in Northampton. Lisa expects one drink, maybe a little flirting, and a good story to tell afterward. She doesn’t expect the way he looks at her. She definitely doesn’t expect him to keep looking.
One drink becomes a kiss. A kiss becomes a date. And when dinner takes an unexpected detour to Ryan’s apartment, Lisa discovers that being desired is very different from simply being wanted for the night.
Because Ryan isn’t pretending.
And for the first time in a long time, Lisa has to consider whether she’s willing to stop laughing long enough to believe him.
